Muñiz: “The team was able to react”

The Málaga CF coach appeared in the press room at Los Pajaritos to analyse the draw (1-1) with CD Numancia: “The changes contributed a lot to the team, and we need everyone to feel involved”, he affirmed.

Overall review

“We won’t see what’s going to happen until the end, there are many points still at stake and lots of games ahead. There are nine or 10 teams who will be fighting for those positions, which is where we’ll be, fighting until the end. When you come to Málaga in the Second Division, you know the level of pressure and demand there is. We must work hard and fight. Today we’re leaving here with a draw from an even game. The first half was bland, whereas in the second half the match evened out again. Anything could have happened in the second half. The team is alive and aware of how tight the category is”.

Cold start

“The matches are difficult, today we got off to a cold start with little verticality on a fast and irregular pitch. It happened to both teams. In the second half, in those first 20 minutes, the team could have taken the lead, yet everything evened out again; these are situations that occur in all matches and you need to work hard for them to stabilise”.

Changes to the starting-11

“We try to allow everyone to have minutes. In the last 10 games, a good run of play and results will keep you in the fight, whereas a bad run could see you out of the play-offs. These players all bring something, and the changes contributed a lot to the team; we need everyone to feel involved”.

Demanding

“It’s normal, amongst the teams that go down, for there to be a tornado that devastates everything. We’ve been aware since the start of the season that these teams have added pressure, and we cannot excuse ourselves. It’s the same every year, but I’m happy because the team has that under control”.

Back to his former home

“I have some great friends in Soria, it’s a pleasure for me to return to places myself and my family loved. On a personal level, it was a good time”.

Dynamic

“We need to be scoring all three points. These last 10 games are vital, and the team is ready to compete in this situation. We must make the most of the goals we score, today I’m happy as the team was able to react. However, logically, we need to score all three. The team is competing, although we’ve had a number of draws and are letting points escape. There are 36 points remaining and 12 matches left. We’re competing with everyone and the teams that know how to manage these situations will have the advantage. I see a mature team, ready to face these situations”.
