Soria, kilometre 30

The visit to Los Pajaritos is always special because of the link that was formed between the fans some 20 years ago. On the field of play, the points were shared between Numancia and Málaga.

The 1-1 draw in Soria left us numerous highlights that we review below:

Goal-scorer Ricca, assistant Renato

The Uruguayan captain scored his fourth goal in LaLiga 1|2|3. After Adrián (7) and Blanco Leschuk (6), he is on the podium of the team’s top scorers alongside homegrown player, Harper. In addition, the Portuguese winger gave his third assist of the season with a precise corner kick converted by Ricca. This is Renato’s third goal pass this season.

Changes at the start and after half-time

Muñiz refreshed his starting-11, bringing on Seleznov and Mula, both in the starting line-up for the second time this season. In the second half, Leschuk and Alejo came on in 46’, and in the final stages of the game, homegrown juvenil winger, Hugo joined play, having been out of action for some time due to injury.

Yellow cards that carry sanction

Three Málaga CF players were shown the yellow card that tomorrow, Wednesday, the RFEF’s Competition Committee will convert into sanctions for the upcoming match in Tarragona. Two defenders, Iván Rodríguez and Pau Torres, plus midfielder, N’Diaye have accumulated the cycle of cards. In the case of the central defender, a run of 30 games without interruption will come to an end.

Seven matches without defeat away from home

It has rained since the last defeat away from La Rosaleda for Málaga CF. It was on 25th November 2018, in Almendralejo against Extremadura (1-0). Since then, three victories, (1-2 in Mallorca, 0-2 in Zaragoza and 0-1 in Majadahonda) and four draws (0-0 in Oviedo and Tenerife, 1-1 in Córdoba and Soria) out of seven games have earned the team 13 out of a possible 21 points and just three goals conceded. Next weekend the lads are away to Nàstic… let the run continue!

30 matches in the Top 5

Taking into account the difficulty of the competition, and how tight the category is, Málaga have accumulated 30 matches within the top 5 positions in the standings. Following an energetic start with six victories out of six matches, the consistency shown by Muñiz’s men has always allowed them to remain in either direct promotion or play-off positions. Irrefutable and indisputable statistics.
