Muñiz: “It was a tough blow”

The Malaguista coach analyses the defeat against Extremadura UD in the post-match press conference: “We need to find a solution with hard work and enthusiasm”.

Difficult time

“It was a tough blow, no doubt about it. It was a good time to score three points and return to a positive situation. We didn’t manage it, and therefore this is a hard time, difficult, something we have to experience and overcome. Life constantly puts you in these situations and you need to conquer them. You can never keep looking back at what’s happened or think what might happen. You need to find a solution, work hard, and remain enthusiastic and ambitious in order to move forward”.

Keep working

“As coach you can never be fearful, you need to keep working hard, doing what you believe in, what you deem appropriate. Particularly when you’re doing so with maximum enthusiasm and dedication, you have to try and overcome the difficult times. Is this a difficult time? Yes, and we need to try and get over it, undoubtedly”.

Not falling into defeatism

“Following a defeat at home, against a rival who was also playing for a certain situation, very different to ours, it’s hard to be optimistic. In the end, we have to realise the trajectory the Club is on, where it’s situated and what we’re playing for. Being a difficult moment, we don’t have to be defeatist, pessimistic, or think that it cannot be achieved. These are situations that must be overcome. We can’t say this is our best moment of the season, especially in regard to results. However, in terms of gameplay, effort and situations, I don’t see much difference, but it’s certainly the case that the results aren’t going our way. We start almost all the matches trailing behind on the scoreboard, that is difficult to assimilate and hard to come back from. I believe the team has shown that you can be optimistic. How does this change? With victories. All we’re seeing now are clouds, but the sun will come out tomorrow. Always”.
