Manu Molina: “It’s been an honour to belong to this club”

The midfielder from Huelva will end his contract with Málaga CF on 30th June. “I have put my heart and soul into these colours and into taking Málaga as high as possible,” he said in his farewell speech.

Before the press conference in the ‘Juan Cortés’ room at La Rosaleda, an emotional video was shown featuring some of the most important moments of Manu Molina during his two seasons with the Blue and White club. “Thank you all. These have been two wonderful years here, and I’ve really enjoyed competing for this jersey. I will never forget that day in Tarragona. On a personal level, it was an incredible experience, and I enjoyed it like a child. Málaga has restored my passion for competing as a footballer. As just another Malaguista, it’s time for me to say goodbye to Málaga, but this will always be my home because that’s how I feel,” Manu said emotionally, grateful to his office colleagues, teammates, and various club departments. And to the Málaga fans: “It’s been an honour to belong to this club and to defend this jersey. And a thousand thanks to the fans, since the moment I stepped onto La Rosaleda, I felt it as my own. Leaving here to applause is something I will carry with me for life. Thanks to them, I have become a better footballer. I have put my heart and soul into these colours and into taking Málaga as high as possible.”

Goal accomplished

“I came here with a goal, and I accomplished it, which was to keep Málaga in professional football. I leave with my head held high. I gave everything for these colours. I hope the club continues to grow, it’s a huge club, we know where it belongs, and I’m very happy with my time here.”

Intensity

“I experience things very intensely. This club is like that. Relegation, promotion, this year it seemed like we were going to be calm, and then we made a comeback. That’s football, every day it gives you a life lesson, and it gave me another one, which is to keep going, and I’ve accepted that since the beginning. Two intense years, it feels like I’ve been here forever. I feel the Malaguismo, and I am a Malaguista.”

Individual level

“When you perform at a high level, you have a chance to stay. As the months went by, I wondered what was going to happen with me. Until I actually leave Málaga, I won’t believe it. The club is betting on young players, and I accept that, I have nothing to blame anyone for. I’m leaving happy, my performance is there, and my level is there.”

Unforgettable stage

“This has been the best period I’ve experienced as a footballer. It has been very intense. We’re in a huge club, with a passionate fanbase and great people behind it, and it has been a boost that has made me a better player and a better person. What I take with me is that, the dressing room, a family, these two years have been incredible.”

Spirit

“I’m cheerful and I like jokes, when it’s time to make them. Since last year, a family has been formed, and our spirit will definitely continue. The jokes, the joy, they will go on like this. That dressing room must not lose that style.”

Return to La Rosaleda

“I hope it will be like that, to stay in Segunda and to be able to come back to this stadium. To whichever team I go, I will give my all to show my level and who I am.”

Moments

“The best moment was the promotion. This year I have felt spectacular, I’ve been at my peak, and I am a professional from head to toe. The worst moments were collective, teammates getting injured, or the streak of uncertainty we went through; but I focus on the good.”
