Minimal defeat for Atlético Malagueño by San Pedro (1-0)

UD San Pedro’s Mauri opened the scoring in the 84th minute in today’s 26th Third Division Group 9 match of the season, to clinch victory from the ‘Malaguistas’.

Scoring opportunities were few and far between in the first half.  Both sides suffered injuries, one from each team, and a local goal by Salva was disallowed for being offside.

In the second half the ‘Malaguistas’ stepped on to the pitch with a renewed energy, and as well as the introduction of Cristian to substitute injured Diego, coach Ballesta brought on Ernesto Gómez in place of Mauri.

The Blue and Whites created the most promising goal chances in the second half.  A Pablo Fornals free kick sailed over the crossbar and a chance for Rufo forced a great intervention from Adam.  UD San Pedro also caused trouble for the visitors, particularly former ‘Malaguista’ Juanfri, who joined the match in the second half.

Atlético Malagueño maintained their determined quest for a goal, and in the final 10 minutes of play, Falu Aranda was brought on to step up the Blue and Whites’ attack.  However it was Mauri who scored for UD San Pedro following an individual display down the left side.

The Blue and Whites’ second team will welcome Antequera CF next weekend to the ‘Federación Malagueña’ ground, who are currently in 15th position in the table after a home win against Atlético Melilla (2-0) this week.
