MCFF rivals in the fight to stay in the division

Once the first phase of the season has ended, the women’s team will fight to remain in Reto Iberdrola.

Nati Gutiérrez’s girls ended the regular league, in Group Sur ‘A’, in 6th place with 16 points. Following an excellent second round, just two points separated Málaga from the fight to move up. Pozoalbense, Granada CF, UDG Tenerife ‘B’ and CF Cáceres (4th, 18 points) are the teams that have qualified for the promotion phase.

Furthermore, as well as Málaga CF, also fighting to stay in Reto Iberdrola are Córdoba CF, CD Juan Grande and FF La Solana. The format of the next phase of the competition sees these four teams face the five lowest-ranked teams in Group Sur ‘B’, namely; Levante UD ‘B’, UD Aldaia CF, CF Joventut Almassora, Valencia Féminas CF ‘B’ and CD Femarguín SPAR Gran Canaria.

Málaga will play another 10 matches this 20/21 season, counting the points already won in the first part of the season. This will be a league exclusively against the aforementioned rivals in Group Sur ‘B’, with home and away games. These teams will be up against the four Sur ‘A’ teams (home and away) playing eight games. The two remaining matchdays from the first phase in Group ‘B’ in relation to Group ‘A’ will be played between both sub-groups.

Although in Group Sur ‘B’ there are outstanding matches remaining to end the league, made up of 9 teams (group ‘A’ had 8 teams), MCFF would only be surpassed in points by Levante (19) and Córdoba (17) starting in third place (16).

Teams ranked in position 1-5 will stay up, whilst the last four will move down to Primera Nacional.
