MCF Juveniles: The New Generation

From Mini to Meléndez, passing through Abqar, Iván Jaime and Juan Cruz, amongst others. Atlético Malagueño is nourished with a good number of youth players, who in turn are regulars in first team training sessions.

The Málaga CF Academy is always in a permanent state of good form. Successes in youth categories have their tip of the iceberg with the Juvenil ‘A’, current leaders and División de Honor Group 4 champions, as well as runners-up in the national Copa de Campeones.

Players including Kellyan, Álex Robles, José Carlos, Maty and Hicham, consolidated in the Blue and Whites’ reserve team, are regulars in the first team training sessions. In the case of Robles, he debuted this year in the Copa del Rey against Numancia.

In addition, up to five players belonging to David Cabello’s Juvenil DH team have competed in Third Division Group 9 this season. The first to debut was Mini, last October; followed in November by Abqar, Juan Cruz and Iván Jaime; and last weekend, Meléndez was part of Malagueño’s victory in Jaén.

Indeed, Meléndez and Abqar were part of the Málaga CF squad in recent friendlies with José González’s side, against Asian outfit, Shonan Bellmare and Germany’s Hamburg respectively.

Ernestas, Álvaro Fernández and attacker, Mario Mendes have also been called-up to the reserve team this season. In the case of the goalkeepers, they have also been part of first team training on various occasions, in the same way as Álex Benítez and Hugo, a key part of the first youth team of Málaga. Future, enthusiasm and hunger, common denominators of these homegrown players with the MCF seal.
