Club Atlético Malagueño returns to compete in the bronze division of Spanish football. The inaugural match of the new season, against San Fernando CD at the Ciudad Deportiva de la Federación Malagueña de Fútbol will be officiated by Andalusian referee Juan Peña Varela, his sixth season as a Second B referee.
The majority of Dely Valdés’ boys will be debuting in the category, although players such as Sergio Chica, Alberto López, Deco and Joan Grasa have already competed in the national bronze division.

- After 11 years and 3 months (4,110 days later) the Malaguista reserve team returns to play a Second Division B game, now as Club Atlético Malagueño.
- This will be the first time Atlético Malagueño begins the Second B league at home, on the other two occasions (2002/03 and 2006/07) they kicked off the competition away from home.
- The balance of results on Second B matchday 1 is a victory (0-1 against Díter Zafra) and a defeat (1-0 against CD Villanueva).
- The Federación Malagueña ground will be the fourth venue to host the reserve team in Second B games (after El Viso, La Rosaleda and Polideportivo Municipal de Arroyo de la Miel).
