Manolo Sánchez: “I’m proud of the players’ competitive level”

Following #MálagaLeganés, the Blue and White second coach held a remote press conference at La Rosaleda. “There are ways to lose. This allows us to keep growing”, he said.

Analysis of the 1-2

“Looking at the pace and intensity of the match, a defeat always hurts, but we competed well and generated opportunities. It’s a shame about the result. The rival only approached us during the goal, we could have got to half-time with the advantage. I’m happy with the work of the players and by competing at this level we’ll be able to please the fans in the upcoming games”.

Proud

“I’m proud of the players’ competitive level. We can achieve great things by competing at this level. At this point, we should be proud of having 18 points. We’ll try to maintain this level of play”.

0-1

“We’ve worked on those passes a lot. Unfortunately, these things happen. We’re improving little by little, and I believe, taking into account the opportunities we created, we did enough to claim a positive result”.

Humility

“We deserved so much more. Now we’re about to enter a marathon, but we’re used to it. We must work with humility, which characterises us, being able to compete against any rival”.

Strategic goal

“It was about time. We’ve been working so hard on set pieces, to get more out of our performance. I’m delighted for the attention the players showed, and pleased we improved on certain things. There are ways to lose. This allows us to keep growing”.

Physical aspect

“Physically, we’re a highly prepared team. We’ve come from previous marathon matches and we’ll be able to count on players such as Jozabed and Caye for the upcoming games, like the clash with Girona”.

Changes

“When something goes well, when we were making numerous arrivals, we went level…We delayed making substitutions as the team was doing well”.
