Mallorca, kilometre 17

Málaga CF returned to winning ways in Son Moix against RCD Mallorca, allowing Muñiz’s men to remain in privileged positions in LaLiga 1|2|3.

These are some of the highlights from last Saturday’s #RCDMallorcaMálaga:

Third victory away from La Rosaleda

Away wins had been resisting the Martiricos squad. It was in Mallorca where Málaga returned to winning ways away from home, the third time this season, following victories in Lugo (1-2) and Almería (0-1). The lads have scored 11 points from away fixtures, in 6th place tied with 4th (Alcorcón) and 5th (Cádiz) who have obtained the most points away from home.

Consolidated in the top part of the table

MCF have always remained in the privileged positions since the start of the season. Following two consecutive defeats against Extremadura and Granada, Málaga scored three points to keep them one point away from direct promotion positions currently occupied by Alcorcón, and two points away from leaders (Granada CF) with +5 points from seventh place in the standings, RCD Mallorca.

Dani Pacheco masterclass

An outstanding match in which the player from Pizarra played a key role at Son Moix. Technically exquisite and extremely hardworking behind the scenes, he was also key to the two Malaguista goals. In the 0-1 he took the corner that led to Harper’s goal, whilst before the definitive 1-2 he led a superb counter-attack to assist Ontiveros who set up the winner for Cifuentes. We needed you, Dani.

If Harper scores, Málaga win

The Scottish-born player from Fuengirola, following injury that left him on the side lines for a month, is now back to his best form - that which made him indisputable on the attack during the first 10 games, together with ‘pichichi’ Blanco Leschuk. Against Mallorca he scored his third goal of this season and, as happened against Rayo Majadahonda at home (1-0) and away to UD Almería (0-1), a goal from Harper served to snap up victory. Three out of three. Long may the streak continue.

Cifuentes, debut goal worth 200

The winger from Granada scored his first official goal as a Malaguista in the hard-fought 1-2 win in the Balearics. Looking at the stats, Cifu’s goal was number 200 for the Club as MCF in the Second Division. The first goal was scored by Brahim against Eibar at La Rosaleda in 1998 (scored the 1-1, Zárate netted the final 2-1); Quino scored the 50th goal in 1999; Las Palmas player, Víctor Afonso – own goal – scored goal number 100 in 2007; and Salva Ballesta, that same year, scored the 150th goal.
