The RFAF has unveiled the match calendar for this competition which has a format change this year, and during the first league stage will have a first phase with 10 teams divided into two groups. As well as Atlético Malagueño, also part of the sub-group ‘B’ of Third Division Group IX are the following nine teams: CF Motril, CD El Palo FC, CD Alhaurino, Melilla CD, Vélez CF, Alhaurín de la Torre CF, CD Juventud de Torremolinos CF, CD Estepona Fútbol and Antequera CF. Counting the Blue and White reserve team, eight of the 10 teams are from Málaga province.
Funes and Bravo’s team, who recently started pre-season training, will kick off the competition on the main pitch at the Federación Malagueña de Fútbol ground against Juventud de Torremolinos in just under a month, the weekend of Sunday 18th October.
The closing of this first phase of the season - everyone against everyone in a two - leg format - is scheduled for the beginning of April 2021 (04/04/21), when on the 18th and final matchday another provincial derby is scheduled between the Malaguista squad and Alhaurín de la Torre CF.
