Malagueño lose to Villacarrillo (2-1)

Villacarrillo CF scored twice at the start of the second half, and despite Samu Castillejo’s goal, and a strong determination to equalise until the final whistle, Atlético Malagueño lost their 30th Third Division Group 9 game of the season.

The first half was fairly even between both sides, with Atlético Malagueño strong in defence and animated in attack.  In minute 32 Juanpi came close to opening the scoring following an assist from Samu Castillejo.

The Blue and Whites’ reserve team began to dominate play, despite creating any real scoring opportunities.  At half-time the score was 0-0.

A great save by Sergio in minute 52 prevented a Villacarrillo CF goal.  However only a minute later, the locals took the lead thanks to a goal from Álvaro following a corner, and three minutes later, Elady increased Villacarrillo CF’s advantage.  The Blue and Whites now had an uphill struggle.

The referee disallowed a Samu Castillejo goal in minute 56 for a possible offside.  Salva Ballesta then made some changes, with Rufo substituting Alberto in minute 60 and Zalea for Víctor Ruíz in minute 65.

Malagueño continued to dominate the match, and Samu Castillejo scored in the 75th minute, putting the visitors right back in the game.

The Blue and Whites worked as hard as they could to get an equaliser up until the final whistle, but Villacarrillo defended well and Malagueño failed to get a second goal.

Átletico Malagueño is now in fourth place in the group, tied with third-placed Vélez with 60 points.  They will welcome Español de Alquián next weekend.
