Flávio: “We need to keep this attitude for the remainder of the season”

Málaga Club de Fútbol’s central defender, Flávio Ferreira, held a press conference following this morning’s training session at the Ciudad de Málaga athletics stadium, to analyse the team and the upcoming match against Celta de Vigo.

Firstly, Flávio talks about the team’s good performance against Real Madrid: “It wasn’t a great game as we didn’t win, but we took a lot of positive things from this match ahead of our next game on Friday.  Physically, it took a lot out of us on Saturday, but we’ll be working hard this week to make sure we’re at 200 per cent this weekend.”

The Portuguese-born player knows how important Friday’s away match is: “There’s not a lot of difference at the moment between Celta and Málaga so we’re determined to bring the points home.  It’s not like a final for us, but it is a very important match in which we’ll do our best to clinch three points.”

Ferreira, who is establishing himself on the team, talks about the good work in recent games: “We always try as hard as we can to play well and win.  The coach wants us to focus on working together more, and we have improved recently.  We need to keep this attitude for the remainder of the season and gain as many points as possible.  There will always be room for improvement and we’ve got three crucial games coming up against direct rivals.”

Flávio, who is at optimum physical fitness, knows that the fans’ role in the team’s success is fundamental from now until the end of the League season: “I’d like to thank the fans for their support, which was so important to us last Saturday, and will be until the end of the competition.”
