Malagueño does the job and takes sole leadership (2-1)
A home win for the reserve team against Loja CD puts them at the top of the table, with a three-point cushion above Antequera CF.
Malagueño defeated the Granada-based side by two goals to one in the postponed 16th Third Division Group IX game. The match, held at the Málaga Federation ground, attracted some 1,300 fans in the stands. Both teams shared possession in the first stages of play.
Malagueño and Loja continued to fight for the ball in midfield. After several comings and goings, Adrián Wójcik put Ruano’s boys in front in minute 29, after he made the most of a play that complicated the rival defence in the vicinity of the goal (1-0).
Following the initial goal, the Malaguistas stepped up the intensity in the attacking half, but the Loja defence prevented a clear approach. On the border of half-time, the referee declared dangerous play and an indirect free kick in a tricky move inside the Malaguista area. Visitor, Diego overcame the barrier and levelled up the scoreboard before half-time (1-1 Min 43).
The reserve team gradually dominated the pace of play and threatened the rival goal with insistence. After numerous approaches, it was again Adrián Wójcik who outwitted the rival goalkeeper with a powerful shot after a millimetre pass between the lines from José Carlos in minute 56 (2-1).
The two teams alternated scoring opportunities for the remainder of the match. Wójcik had a hat trick at his feet in a one on one in the final stage of play, but missed out on glory by mere centimetres.
With this victory, Atlético Malagueño has 49 points and takes the lead over their main rival in the table (Antequera with 46 points).
