#MálagaNumancia… Iznata’s game

The current Atlético Malagueño delegate developed a large part of his playing career with Málaga CF, although he was loaned out to CD Numancia during the 2001/02 season.

Raúl Iznata spoke to MCFTV about his past with the side from Soria, Málaga CF’s upcoming LaLiga 1|2|3 rival at La Rosaleda (Monday 29, 21:00).

Time in Soria

“It was the 2001/02 season. In December the possibility of being loaned out arose and I decided to go to Soria. I think the loan was the right idea, as in the end the set objective was reached, which was to remain in the category”.

“It’s a small city with few inhabitants compared to Málaga. I adapted well, I’m a family man and like to be at home. It was wonderful there. The houses are adapted to the cold weather and we had a great time”.

“We suffered in achieving our goal, and up until the penultimate match we were still fighting for permanency. I only scored one goal as a professional, the only one I scored with Numancia was away to Nástic”.

Muñiz, teammate at Numancia

“He was a tough central defender, quick, who knew how to position himself well. A forceful central who also ‘scratched’ a bit. I like his style of training a great deal, as he has a well-ordered, well-adjusted, strong team… and he was like that as a player”.

Link and joint promotions

“Our links with Numancia have always been strong, we achieved two promotions hand in hand at the same time. Hopefully we can repeat it this year”.

“First is that Málaga secures promotion, and if we can go up together with Numancia, as we’ve done twice before, then all the better. You have a love for teams you are part of, where you’ve been treated well, which was certainly the case for me. Therefore I hope both teams get promoted”.
