Málaga CF Statement

Málaga Club de Fútbol is aware of the high level of concern among fans and, as such, the priority of this Entity above all is to convey a message of confidence and calm ahead of the imminent start of the 2019/20 season.

The Club has been in a process of economic readjustment since last season following relegation in the 17/18 campaign. Since then, the President has been working tirelessly with the Board of Directors and Club management to adapt its financial parameters to those established by the National Professional Football League, the same challenge that was faced in the last 18/19 season in which the Málaga CF first team competed normally with the highest squad limit in the category.

Sheikh Abdullah Nasser Bin N.A. Al Thani knows the great history of this Club and, together with the rest of the management team, has been working hard to ensure Málaga CF is in the best possible position ahead of the start of the upcoming season. We have full confidence in the fact that the team and the fans, together as the great ‘Malaguista Family’ we are, will strive to reach our objectives in the 19/20 campaign.

Malaguista Family

President, Sheikh Abdullah Nasser Bin N.A. Al Thani also wants to emphasise the love he feels for this team’s colours and his loyalty to the fans and the city of Málaga. From the outset, before becoming a majority shareholder, the president shared that Málaga Club de Fútbol, S.A.D. is not just a football club, it’s a feeling that represents pride and fervour among season ticket holders, supporters’ club members, followers, fans and other supporters. Pure passion for the multitude of Malagueños and Malagueñas, as well as many people outside our capital and province who identify with the Blue and White colours.

Malaguismo, as witnessed in the last official match of last season at La Rosaleda, is a movement that is more alive than ever. The ‘Malaguista Family’, always united, has not stopped growing over the years, at a time when the Club enjoyed its best sporting successes in history.

Being in a full period of readjustment within the Entity, we must remain united to continue to build a strong Club. We trust that our ‘Malaguista Family’ will help to safeguard the Club’s interests, so that the current situation does not affect the team reaching its sporting objectives. Therefore, we ask for confidence in the presidency, the Board of Directors and the management team. We are convinced the team will achieve great accomplishments that will be shared by the city and the fans.
