Luis Alberto: “The team is progressing well, but we need to keep improving”

Málaga Club de Fútbol’s Luis Alberto held a press conference at the Ciudad de Málaga athletics stadium following this morning’s training session, to analyse the ‘Malaguista’ team.

Firstly, Luis Alberto talks about the pre-season up to now: “I think the team has been doing very well since the new players joined.  Everyone is adapting quickly to the team and working effectively together.  Although we lost on Sunday, it’s better to lose now than in a League game.  It’s important to focus on the positives during the pre-season, and we now need to work on ensuring we’re physically ready for the start of the League competition in two weeks.”

From a personal point of view, the Cádiz-born player is looking forward to the start of the League season: “I don’t see myself with a place in the starting-11, but I feel comfortable.  Joining the team has benefitted me.  I’m here to give my all and I hope I get the chance to play as much as possible.  Javi Gracia knows me best from my time with Barça B.  With regards to free kicks, it doesn’t matter who takes them, the important thing is that they benefit the team.  I feel comfortable as an attacking midfielder or on the left wing, where I’ve also had experience.  I want to support the team so we can get as high up the League table as possible.  I hope I can score 11 goals like I did that season with Barça B, but my strongest trait is passing, so I hope I can help my teammates with goals and goal assists.”

Lastly, Luis Alberto is confident in the team’s possibilities next season: “I’m pleased with how the team is progressing, we’re capable of achieving exciting things and playing great football, even though we need to improve in certain aspects.  Over the next one or two months, the team will be much tighter and play more attractive football.”
