Juanmi analyses the team’s pre-season training so far, as well as his personal goals for the upcoming season: “I’m not thinking about new signings, I’m solely focused on working hard every day to convince the coach I’m match-fit.  I hope to earn a place in the starting-11 at the beginning of the League season.  I want to help the team and contribute as much as I can.”
 
The Blue and Whites’ striker has high hopes for this year following a good pre-season: “I’ve been lucky with goals throughout pre-season training.  The coach wanted me to have more movement around the pitch, and if this approach results in goals, then it’s great for the team.  I’ve been playing on the left wing and I feel comfortable as I can focus on gaining possession and reaching the goal area.  Since the start of the pre-season, I was certain that this year is going to be an important year for me; I need to make the most of every opportunity.”
 
Juanmi is not looking too far ahead when it comes to his personal objectives, and is just focusing on training hard every day: “The team needs to keep working each day, and our objectives will become clear as the League progresses.  We’re all very committed, working well together, and looking forward to the start of the season.  It’s been an unusual pre-season as we’ve been travelling more than we’ve been training.  It’s important that we use the remaining week and a half in Málaga to finish our preparations and prepare for the League competition.”
 
Lastly, the Coín-born striker has a few words for Jesús Gámez: “He was a very important part of the squad and always immersed himself in the team.  We’ll all miss him a great deal.  I’m sure he’ll do well at Atlético, I hope he has a great season.”
