The Blue and White stadium has responded perfectly to the long, demanding 19/20 season.
The 2019/20 football season was, and continues to be, the longest in history due to the COVID-19 crisis. However, La Rosaleda Stadium, ranked as one of the best stadiums in national football, stayed true to form and has fulfilled expectations during this endless season.
It was on 24th August 2019, against UD Las Palmas, when the Martiricos stadium hosted Málaga CF’s first home game of the last season. During these 11 months, 21 La Liga SmartBank matches were held at La Rosaleda. In addition, the team stepped up training in the second half of the competition alternating between the Annexe and the main pitch after ceasing activity at the Ciudad de Málaga.
Furthermore, not forgetting the playoff games for Second Division promotion, with La Rosaleda witness to two teams moving up: Logroñés, a week ago (18 July) after defeating Castellón; and Cartagena who beat Atlético Baleares (19 July). The day before yesterday, Martiricos hosted the tie between Castellón and Peña Deportiva which ended in victory for Castellón, who tomorrow will seek to move up to the Second Division at La Rosaleda against Cornellà.
Training sessions, matches, events… and a pitch that has remained in magnificent condition thanks to the superb maintenance and care throughout the different seasons of this almost endless year.
It’s not long until the 80th anniversary of the temple of all Malaguistas, which was inaugurated in 1941, and like fine wines, only gets better with age. Long live La Rosaleda!
