Kilometre 42: End of the line

Málaga CF bid farewell to the 20/21 season on Sunday with a victory at La Rosaleda Stadium against CD Castellón.

We look back at the highlights of the 3-0 win for the Blue and Whites on matchday 42 of LaLiga SmartBank:

Caye 300

The striker from Huelva scored the 1-0 and entered the Club’s history books. He scored goal number 300 for Málaga CF in the Second Division. His third league goal and the fifth of the season for the striker.

A brace from Stefan

It’s no easy feat, especially in such competitive and very physical football, to arrive late in the season at a club without having the pace of competition. This was the case for Scepovic, who in just 13 matches scored three goals (not counting the one against Lugo, conceded to Lombán) in just 389 minutes of play. His brace against Castellón defines him perfectly. A traditional striker.

Andrés is worth four

Another ‘juvenil’ made his first team debut this season…and there have been many. At supersonic speed, Andrés Caro is moving up the ranks thanks to his innate defensive quality and a very mature head on his shoulders for just 17 years of age. He belongs to the Juvenil B in Liga Nacional, is a regular fixture with the Juvenil A and Malagueño, and has been competing with the older ‘A’ lads for months. He started out at Benjamín age and is an example for all the young players within the MCF Academy.

12th place, the objective more than accomplished

Winning the last match of the season was important for many reasons. It allowed us to move up the table, yet from a morale point of view, it’s about the sweet victory of winning +3 points following a poor run of results. We finished in 12th place with 53 points from 14 victories and 11 draws, with points won in 25 out of 42 league games. Our place in the division is secure, we achieved our goal. Nice work team.
