Juanpi: “It’s an honour to be with Málaga and represent the Club in my national team”

Malaguista player, Juanpi Añor held a press conference today at the Ciudad de Málaga. The Venezuelan expresses his “satisfaction” at his recent call-up to the ‘Vinotinto’.

Triple call-up for MCF with Venezuela

“It’s not a usual thing to happen, and it hasn’t done so for a while, particularly in Málaga when three Venezuelans here get called-up.  It brings enormous satisfaction to us to represent our country and our Club, whom we owe a great deal.  It’s an honour for us to be with Málaga and represent them in the national team too.”

Compatriot, Mikel Villanueva

We were all surprised when he scored his goal, especially as he was playing in a position he’s not normally used to, as he’s a left-winger.  He’s in the Third Division, but in these matches against Peru and Chile, teams of a high level, he showed he was capable to compete at the same level, and I think he’s a player of the future for this Club.”

Eager to get back to the dynamic

“I arrived back yesterday, and feel much better and more relived today.  I can’t wait to get back into the team dynamic and play in Sunday’s game against Espanyol, so as we can continue along the same lines as we were before.”

Ambition

“We’re focused on Espanyol now, on LaLiga and moving up the table.  We must remain ambitious and aspire to achieve more.  We have the thorn in our side from last season, when we were doing well and in the final stage we didn’t secure good results.  However, I think we have another good opportunity this year to do well, and if we continue on the same path, we can achieve great things.”

Match by match

“We can’t let home games get away from us.  We’re solely concentrating on Sunday and claiming the three points.  Moving further up the table?  It’s not going to be easy looking at the teams in front, but we must dedicate ourselves to our own situation, take each game at a time and achieve results like we’ve done recently.  As such, I’m convinced we’ll accomplish our goals.”
