José Alberto: “The fans like what they see”

The Malaguista coach held a press conference in the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda. “Today’s game is a demonstration of the team's involvement and commitment.”

Blue and White coach José Alberto López talked about his impressions of the team following the victory against Girona FC: “Today’s game is a demonstration of the team's involvement and commitment, and the second goal is a clear example. Girona are a big team, we congratulate all the players and the entire squad,” he said.

“Yes, we would have liked the second goal to have arrived sooner so as not to have suffered so much. Today's match showed what the category is like, we understood it well and didn’t make any mistakes. We have to be a reliable and consistent team,” he said about how tough the division is.

One of the stars of the night was Paulino and his brace, of which the coach said: “He deserved it in previous games and those goals will boost his confidence. He was contributing a lot and those goals will give him peace of mind to be able to help the team.”

In regard to the result, the coach is clear: “The result is fair, we sent the ball to the post twice, had several approaches and in terms of defence we did have to move back, but we have to suffer and it’s good to win in this way.”

José Alberto also enjoyed the incredible atmosphere in the stands: “You can tell the fans identify with the team because they like what they see. The players give their all, with brutal involvement and commitment, which is what we want. Let them be proud of the team. It was a pleasure to see the fans in the stands,” he commented.

The coach was also questioned about the team’s 6th place in the standings: “The classification is anecdotal at this point in the season. The important thing is how. And we need to work on reinforcing what we’re doing well, and correct the things we’re doing wrong. The victories underpin the work that is being done and this is the way forward,” he added.

It’s all about teamwork: “The credit goes to the players and what we see each weekend is the reflection of the day to day. It’s a team effort, from the Sporting Management to the kit manager. Everyone is pushing so much, and the players deserve all the credit for what they do. We are only just starting, and we need to be consistent,” he clarified.
