Paulino: “It was a dream match”

The Malaguista winger held a press conference following the match against Girona FC, corresponding to LaLiga SmartBank matchday 5. “Hard work takes you to really great nights like this one,” he affirmed.

The Malaguista player was one of the standout players of the match, scoring the two Blue and White goals. Following the good performance, Paulino is pleased with Málaga CF’s start to the season. “We’re presenting ourselves in the category as a team with a lot of pace, that creates many opportunities, and makes a great effort. Today's result is the reward for the match the other day, where we were not lucky enough to win the three points,” he said.

In addition, on a personal level he said “it was a dream match. I’m so happy as I’ve had a few matches where I wasn’t able to score. In the end, hard work takes you to really great nights like this one. I’d like to thank the fans. At home you can see how strong we can be. The goals are for them, they deserve it,” he said in relation to the brace and the support he’s received from fans. However, he said “there’s always room for improvement” and “there’s always time to work hard.”

Talking about his goals, Paulino said: “I managed to turn around and I saw the keeper had moved forward, and I thought the curve was the best option to score the goal. I was able to execute it well. In the last one I arrived with everything I had. I went to the ground because I thought it was the only way for me to go inside.”

The return of Dani Martín is also good news. After so many months off the pitch, his teammates wanted to congratulate him after the game. In addition, the goalkeeper made a number of good saves. “The keepers are another player, they’re in charge of getting us a lot of points,” he said.

After scoring the first goal, Kevin and Paulino headed to the stands with a special pose, reflecting the good atmosphere within the group. “We both wanted to do that celebration. There’s such a great atmosphere in the dressing room amongst us all, those who play more and those who don’t play as often. You can see that in the celebrations and in the good times and bad, as we all go through. I’d like to congratulate all the players who weren’t fortunate enough to play,” he added.
