Javi Gracia: “We want to be consistent and demanding until the end”

Malaguista coach, Javi Gracia held a press conference at La Rosaleda the day before #MCFvRVM. “We’ll make the most of our options to improve.”

Next match

“If I had to choose I would prefer more time (to prepare).  We missed out on the chance for victory, but in regards to game play, I think we deserved it.  We’ve got another option to win and play a good match, and with it being so soon, we have less recovery time than other teams.  This is a week with little time for training and more match time.”

Rayo Vallecano

“They are a team fighting for points to achieve their objectives.  We are aware they score a fair amount of goals, but are also the team who concedes the most.  Their matches are always a little unpredictable as to how they develop.  Due to their style of play, they often opt for a more open approach, therefore generating more goal chances.

Demanding and ambitious

“The team has been competing well and reaching the amount of points needed to achieve the objective.  When I arrived at this Club, I was focused on securing permanency without struggling too much.  We must always be demanding to improve, and ambitious to achieve wider objectives, but at least I’m proud of what I represent: my players, my Club, my fans, the city and the province.”

No time to relax

“For me the word ‘relaxation’ doesn’t exist.  There is tremendous equality in the table, so we must keep fighting until the end.  The position and the points we have weren’t given to us for free, and now we’re facing a game which invites the creation of more chances, not because of relaxation, but because of the characteristics of the rival.”

Message to the Malaguista fans

“I would like to see them enjoying the match, the game play and the team.  The ambition the fans have of wanting to see their team reach as high as possible, means we’ll make the most of our options to improve in the rankings, as well as our game.  We’ll also try to be constant and demanding until the end with better or worse results.  We must keep fighting during the remaining games, and I’m convinced we will be ambitious and commanding.”
