The Málaga CF coach held a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match against Real Sociedad: “If the result we gained in Madrid is a turning point, then we must perform well in our next game,” says the Navarran-born manager.
Following the draw at the Bernabéu, Gracia comments: “Every week is different, and playing a good game changes the team’s morale. Gaining a point against a team such as Real Madrid brings an air of excitement and confidence to the squad.”
“If the result we gained in Madrid is a turning point, then we must perform well in our next game. It was a move in the right direction but we must continue to do well. We need to take the next step, make a positive assessment and emerge stronger during this difficult time, so that when we achieve victory, we do it with optimism,” highlights the Blue and Whites’ coach.
With regards to Real Sociedad, Javi Gracia considers them “a very organised team who concede few goals; they have a good defence, a strong midfield with the return of Illara to give more balance; as well as various players upfront who boast quality and speed. They have a large squad of available players.”
“Pablo (Fornals) earns his right every day to be on the team, thanks to his time in the ‘B’ Division and taking part in daily training with us. He’s a good player with a bright future,” says Gracia when questioned about the youth team player.
Finally, Gracia fondly recalls his time with the San Sebastián-based side: “I really enjoy playing against teams where I was treated very well. I was a player with them for four seasons so it’ll always be special to face Real, a Club for whom I have great affection. However I'll do all I can to ensure we win.”
