Málaga CF – Real Sociedad match preview

Málaga Club de Fútbol is hosting Real Sociedad of San Sebastián at La Rosaleda on Saturday 3rd October (10:05 p.m.) for the seventh BBVA League game of the season.

The ‘Malaguistas’ (in 18th place with three points) are hoping for their first home win of the season against a rival in 12th place in the table with six points.

These rivals have played 12 League matches at the Martiricos stadium, resulting in three wins and three draws for Málaga against a traditionally uncomfortable opponent at this ground.  The last Blue and Whites’ home win against this team was on 20th November 2005, with a 3-1 victory thanks to goals from César Navas, Edgar and Antonio Hidalgo.

Málaga’s biggest League win against Real was by 3-0 in 2000/01, with local goals from Movilla (penalty), Agostinho and Larraínzar.

The last meeting between Gracia and Moyes’ teams was in 2014/15, ending in a 1-1 draw, with goals by Recio and Rubén Pardo, and the same referee as this Saturday: Carlos Del Cerro Grande.  With this Madrid-born referee in charge, Málaga CF has played five home games, resulting in two victories and one draw, whilst Real have played four away games, ending in three draws and one defeat.
