Málaga CF’s first win of the season took place at La Rosaleda tonight along with the team’s first goals, thanks to a Charles hat trick in a match of sacrifice, commitment and finally, goals.
Javi Gracia said before the game that the first goal of the season was close and was a question of statistics, and Charles proved him right after three minutes tonight. A good pass from Recio and excellent definition allowed Charles to open the scoring for the Blue and Whites this season. This goal was so long in coming since the beginning of the League competition that Charles scored his second goal of the night for Málaga. Following rapid clearance from Kameni, the striker made the most of a defence error to find himself unmarked in front of Rulli to score an impressive goal.
The locals were 2-0 up after seven minutes and La Rosaleda was jumping for joy. The party was halted slightly in minute 14 as a header into goal from Agirretxe made it 2-1. Real began to dominate play, however without any clear danger, and Duje Cop came close to scoring Málaga’s third goal of the match in the 34th minute following assistance from Duda inside the area.
The second half kicked off with an excellent opportunity for the Blue and Whites. A foul from Real inside the area allowed for a Duda free kick. His shot bounced like a pin ball, but the ball went wide of the target.
Tissone was shown his second yellow card in minute 70, making it an uphill struggle for the Blue and Whites for the second consecutive match. With several minutes of just 10 men, Javi Gracia decided to reinforce midfield by bringing on Juanpi and reserve team player, Pablo in a line of five with Charles flying solo upfront.
Kameni made his usual two great saves of every game, and the home side clung to sacrifice and teamwork.
Victory couldn’t escape the Blue and Whites tonight and Charles sealed the deal with a third goal. A well-deserved hat trick and the first three points of the season.
