Press conference

“It’s going to be one of the most important matches of the season”

Málaga CF coach, Sergio Pellicer held a remote press conference ahead of the match against Sabadell: “They are a team that plays well away from home. They have competed well against teams in the promotion fight”, he said.

Chavarría’s injury

“We send all our support to Pablo, this is the worst thing that can happen to a player. Funnily enough, the two players who scored in Sabadell, Calero and Pablo, have sustained long-term injury. However, it’s about finding solutions. We know how to deal with this situation and this group has managed to rebuild itself. We have surpassed obstacles and have maximum confidence in our players. We’ll adapt, using different mechanisms on the attack. However, we need to maintain continuity we’ve seen in recent games, where the results have not been in line with the gameplay”.

Possible reinforcement

“I have utmost confidence in the team. It’s difficult due to the number of professional players we have. This is the work of the sports management, we’re in constant contact, and any new player who joins will come and help the team. Alexander arrived, who is helping us a great deal, yet any new player won’t have the title of saviour. I’m very happy with the group’s performance and the youth team players, who have made the most of the opportunity”.

Youth ranks

“We likely have the most homegrown players of any team on a daily basis. There’s a very clear commitment to the young players, but they have to earn their place in each training session. Málaga is a paradise for young players, but they have to work incredibly hard. Here they are able to grow as professionals”.

Trust in Caye

“There are versatile players who can play in that position. I don’t like to individualise. I’m sure Caye will play tomorrow, Orlando has had some physical problems this week and we have a lot of confidence in the young players, from the reserve team and the ‘juvenil’ squad”.

CE Sabadell

They are a team that plays well away from home. They have competed well against teams in the promotion fight. They deserved more in terms of results compared to the game, and are a dynamic team that likes to have possession, generate spaces…The next match is always the most important, indeed, it’s going to be one of the most important matches of the season. We have to give continuity to games like the one against Rayo, a similar team in that sense, daring and trying to find a weakness so the rival doesn't feel comfortable”.

Humility and group

“If someone joins the team, it will be to help. No one from outside is going to come and save us. There’s a long way to go, we’re going to help the starting players and the substitutes. Always working with humility and putting the team above the individual. A homegrown team, courageous and what they are doing this season has great merit, particularly under these circumstances”.
