Stats and facts

  • Although this is the first time Málaga CF and CE Sabadell will meet at La Rosaleda, it is the 14th time the outfit from Catalonia will play at the Malaguista stadium. CD Málaga obtained seven wins, four draws and two defeats against this rival. Added to this are two draws from games held at the Baños del Carmen, when CD Málaga was called CD Malacitano.
  • In the past five seasons in the silver division, on matchday 28, MCF have obtained three victories (0-1 against RCD Mallorca ‘B’, 1-2 against UD Las Palmas and 0-1 against Cádiz CF) and two draws (0-0 against Ciudad de Murcia and 1-1 against Córdoba CF).

The return of Hidalgo

Antonio Hidalgo, a key player in Málaga CF’s last promotion to the First Division, scoring 14 goals in the 2007-08 season, will return to La Rosaleda Stadium as coach of the rival team. Since the historic match against CD Tenerife, he hasn’t returned to La Rosaleda in an official capacity. A very special match for an iconic player at the Club under the MCF name.
