Gracia: “The point compensates the work”

The Malaguista coach says after the draw against Granada CF that “41 points gives us peace of mind to face the rest of the season.”

Good start

“When a team approaches a match, logically they go out to win.  I think we started off well, in the first minutes we got close to the area and generated goal chances, but we weren’t able to convert the two or three opportunities into goals.”

Even game

“I think the match was fairly hard-fought and balanced, with the rival having the two subsequent chances.  We covered more of the pitch in the first 20-25 minutes, but then it began to alter as time went on, and fatigue made the distances seem longer.  In these games of many metres, the rival maintained their physical power and speed upfront, showing us the danger they can create with every ball.”

The point compensates the work

“We held on well, defended well and conceding few or no goals allows us to stay in matches.  We tried to find another option, but imprecision meant we were unable to materialise.  The point we earned is a reward for all the team’s hard work.”

A positive result

“This point serves to increase distance from followers, or to reduce the distance between teams we want to reach, we’ll see.  I think gaining points at this stage in the competition is always positive.  Do we always want to win?  Of course, but we see the difficulties there are, and today to achieve the number of points we have moves us closer to First Division permanency, which was our objective at the beginning of the season.  Therefore, I always stay positive.”

Close to salvation

“I think 41 points gives us peace of mind to face the rest of the season, but we still don’t know mathematically.”
