Fifth consecutive victory for Atlético Malagueño (4-1)
The Blue and Whites’ reserve team came from behind to achieve their fifth victory on the run and ninth consecutive match gaining points to remain in Second B Division play-off positions.
Throughout the first half, the game play had little fluidity, although Atlético Malagueño dominated possession but didn’t create clear goal opportunities and showed a lack of precision in passing.
In the 5th minute of the second half the referee awarded a penalty to the rival as Calero was shown the yellow card for bringing down David Talaverón inside the area. Los Molinos took the lead with a successful shot from the 11-metre mark.
The rival maintained a 5-4-1 formation throughout the match, particularly following their goal. Salva Ballesta decided to take off defender, Calero and put striker, Mauri on the pitch. The decision was a good one. Ernesto Gómez took advantage of a rival mistake to win a one-on-one battle with Juanfran and equalise for the Blue and Whites.
The ‘Malaguistas’ began to grow in confidence following this goal. A Falu Aranda header into goal from a Pablo Fornals corner put Atlético Malagueño in front.
Los Molinos opened up their lines in the hope of an equaliser, but this only helped the Blue and Whites to further develop their game play. Rufo, who didn’t score today but assisted the team well, maintained possession inside the area to allow Mauri to slide the ball into the back of the net and score the team’s third goal of the match.
Just before the full-time whistle it was again Rufo leading a counter-attack who assisted Zalea to outwit Juanfran to score and seal Atlético Malagueño’s 4-1 victory.
This is the 5th consecutive win for Atlético Malagueño who now have 27 points. They are away to Los Villares CF next weekend, who just defeated Atlético Melilla by 1-2.
