Escassi: “Coming here was my absolute priority”

Malagueño and Malaguista, Alberto Escassi returns to the Club after leaving the Blue and White youth ranks nearly 15 years ago. With the hierarchy of captain, he has fulfilled his dream of returning to Martiricos.

Back home

“When the possibility arose and Manolo called me, I told my agent that I didn’t want to know anything about any other team, to stop looking, this was my absolute priority. At last it has come to fruition. I’m bursting with enthusiasm, so excited to be back here, perform well and have a very good season after so long away from my home”.

Adapting

“It was straightforward, as well as being from here, the team welcomed me with open arms. Adapting to the team has been very easy, particularly with the wonderful dressing room we have. This allows everything to move faster and makes it easy to settle in”.

Challenge

“It’s a new project, with many new faces and what we need to do is adapt as soon as possible. The people arriving here, such as myself, need to do our bit to adapt quickly. Those who arrived earlier in the preseason should adapt rapidly so we’re on the right track”.

Objectives

“On a personal level I hope to continue like this, avoid injury and maintain a degree of consistency, which is the most complicated thing for a player as there are many ups and downs. At a group level, I don’t like to talk about objectives, as last season we went through a situation in which we finished the first round in play-off positions, and then we went down at the end of the season. We need to get to the 50-point mark and secure permanence. Once we have those 50 points, then we can dream. However, we must take each match at a time and each week we’ll continue the fight”.
