Diego González reinforces the defence

The under-21 international has transferred to Málaga CF from Sevilla FC, and has signed for four seasons.

Diego González Polanco, born on 25th January 1995 in Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz), developed in the youth ranks of Cádiz FC, making his first team debut with the Yellows in the 12/13 season at just 17 years of age. Two campaigns later, he was part of Granada CF’s reserve team, competing in Second Division B. The following year, the 15/16 season, he transferred to Sevilla Atlético, with whom he ascended to LaLiga 123.

His superb performance with Sevilla’s second team led him to debut in LaLiga Santander the same year, and since then he’s played five matches in the First Division, and 34 in Second Division A.

Furthermore, Diego is a U-21 international with Spain, taking part in the last European Championships in Poland, in which the team were proclaimed runners-up. The central defender debuted with ‘La Rojita’ with a goal, in the qualifier for the continental competition against San Marino.

Being 1’85 metres tall he is endowed with strength, and has the ability to use both legs, making him a truly versatile addition to the defence.

The player passed the medical exam this morning at Vithas Salud Rincón Medical Center Rosaleda, and tomorrow will meet his new teammates in his first training session with the Blue and Whites.

Welcome to your new home, Diego.
