Defeat in the first match of the second stage of the season (1-2)
Málaga Femenino suffered defeat yesterday in Cártama against the Valencia CF reserve team, on matchday 1 of Group Sur D, in the fight to remain in Reto Iberdrola.
There was a good atmosphere in the stands with around a hundred fans cheering on the team, at the start of the second phase of the season.
Nati Gutiérrez selected the following starting-11 made up of: Andrea Romero in goal; Encarni, Ruth, Candela and Ale in defence; Farfán, Buceta, Lorena and Edna in midfield; María Ruiz as playmaker and Futu upfront.
In the first part of the match the team went out determined for a goal. Edna came close in 2’, but it was the visitors who took the lead from a counter-attack (0-1, Carol 16’). Shortly afterwards, Futu headed the ball to the crossbar (18’). Encarni had another good chance that was prevented by the Valencia keeper in 35’. Before half-time, Ruth stepped off due to injury and was replaced byMaría Flores, who made her official debut this season.
The second half kicked off with the same dynamic. A Málaga creating opportunities against a Valencia determined to hold on to their lead. Claudia and Marina, in 58’, joined the game to energise the attack and play on the wings. MCFF deserved to go level, and Futu, with insistence and faith, did it(1-1, 70’). Claudia, two minutes later, sent the ball to the post as the fans pushed the team on. However, in the final stages, an isolated action from the rival led to the winning goal (1-2, Ferrer 81’). An unfair result in terms of the opportunities generated by the Blue and Whites.
Three points to allow the Valencia CF Féminas reserve team to tie with Málaga CF on points (16) after the first match of the new Group Sur D of Reto Iberdrola. Next time Nati’s girls are away to CF Joventut Almassora.
