Málaga CF faced Hull City this Saturday afternoon at the Marbella Football Center, in the Blue and Whites’ 22/23 pre-season debut. Pablo Guede selected the following starting-11: Manolo Reina; Juanfran, Genaro, Andrés Caro, Víctor Olmo; Jozabed, Ramón, Álex Rico; Haitam, Fran Sol and Rubén Castro.
The Malaguistas maintained control of the ball at the start of play, against a well-positioned rival at the back. Fran Sol and Rubén Castro generated several options to put the Blue and Whites in front, yet Rubén Castro’s attempt was the clearest opportunity to take the lead.
The British team, imposing their physical superiority, had their chances via set pieces, but the score stayed the same at half-time.
In the second half, Hull City changed their line-up and boosted the attack. In 51’ Jacob Greaves put Hull in front following a corner. Málaga responded thanks to Andrés Caro (55’) who scored from a Jozabed corner.
The Malaguistas made the most of the dynamic and went all out to score again. Rubén Castro tried his luck from the edge of the area, but his shot hit the post. However, Hull City took advantage of another set piece to go in front again. This time through Alfie Jones (59').
In minute 60, Pablo Guede made numerous changes, with the team having the following line-up: Manolo Reina; Haitam, Pablo Arriaza, Murillo, Andrés Caro, Issa Fomba; Ramón, Dani Lorenzo, Álex Rico; Loren and Kevin.
Taking advantage of the restructuring of the Blue and Whites, the English side scored their third goal. It was Lewie Coyle (62') who, with a beautiful goal, increased the distance between the two teams.
The match continued with more attempts by Pablo Guede’s team to narrow the gap, but the result remained 1-3. Next Saturday another friendly is taking place at Marbella Football Center against Cádiz CF.
