Málaga CF has announced the renewal of David Larrubia, who will remain with the club for three more years, strengthening the commitment of the homegrown ‘10’ to the team of his life.
Marking Larrubia’s contract extension, artist D. Darko, in his Geometría Emocional series, has created a piece that blends art and football through memory and identity. Designed as a personal diary translated into paint, the work combines geometric abstraction with figurative elements to narrate David’s journey.
The commemorative t-shirt features symbols from his personal history, including the number 39 from his first-team debut (11/10/2020), his current number 10, and the date of his contract renewal (2028). Landmarks from the city, such as La Alcazaba, symbolic elements like the Cenachero, his neighbourhood La Luz, and key words like Love and Family emphasise his deep connection to Málaga.
The artist’s design incorporates the left side of David’s face, a nod to his left foot, along with an acrylic-transferred soccer ball, a goal net, and a beam of light emanating from the Málaga CF crest to connect with his childhood team, Roma Luz. Elements such as the incomplete circle, triangles, and a swallow, a symbol of loyalty and return, reflect his personal growth and his enduring commitment to the club’s Blue and White colours.
The phrase chosen by David Larrubia, “Everything begins with a dream,” appears at the base of the t-shirt created by D. Darko as a reminder of a journey that continues. The continuation of the ‘10’ not only guarantees talent on the pitch but also tells a story of identity, roots, and a shared future with Málaga CF.
