Saturday afternoon at the Campos de Pinilla of the Extremadura side, as Málaga made their second away trip in just three days after Wednesday’s Copa de la Reina clash in Huelva.
Héctor Díaz named a starting-11 of M. Arrabal; Encarni ©, Jeni L., Yoli Peche, Elsa; Yessenia A. M., Noemi, Marina Tomás, L. Ramos; Futu and Andrea Herr. Torralvo, Carmela, Lucía Correro, Belén and Alba Navarro also featured in the second half.
The Malaguistas asserted their superiority over the Cacereño reserves from the outset. Midway through the opening period, Futu once again showed her goalscoring instinct, finishing a counter-attack superbly after a great pass from Elsa to put Málaga ahead (0-1, 26’).
After the break, the course of the game barely changed. Málaga made their advantage count and then put the result beyond doubt with two more goals in the closing stages.
Lucía Correro, a hugely promising young academy striker who has made an immediate impact, scored her second goal in two league games (0-2, 73’). Then, deep into stoppage time, another substitute and one of this summer’s new signings, winger Carmela, put the finishing touch on the victory (0-3, 92’).
An impeccable start to the league campaign means that, after two matchdays, the team will occupy the promotion places for Primera Federación with six points on the board, five goals scored and none conceded. Vamos, Málaga!
