Comeback and victory for the women’s team (1-2)

Goals from Patricia Mascaró and Natalia against EDF Logroño led the Malaguistas to their second consecutive victory in the league and the first away from Málaga.

Málaga CF Femenino won 1-2 with goals from Mascaró and Natalia against EDF Logroño at Las Gaunas, on Liga Iberdola matchday 6. This victory in Logroño is the second on the run for Antonio Contreras’ girls, and the first away from home for the Malaguistas.

The Malagueñas felt particularly comfortable during the initial stages of play, despite the dimensions of Las Gaunas ground. The concentration shown by Antonio Contreras’ girls at the start of play led to a very early goal. In minute 3, striker Patricia Mascaró slipped past the rival defence with ease to slam the ball straight into the back of the net. The 0-1 was Málaga’s first away goal and the first for the player from Mallorca.

The Malagueñas continued to dominate the match, who made numerous approaches to the goal defended by Andrea, but without success. After the first 30 minutes, the match became more tempered and possession was shared in midfield between both sides. In 36’, a Logroño corner allowed Rebeca to head the ball into Chelsea’s goal and put the home side on an equal footing (1-1). Málaga didn’t manage another goal despite their attempts and at half-time the score was 1-1.

In the second half Logroño approached the Malaguista area, coming up against Chelsea twice. Málaga began to recover ground and in 54’, the ball landed at an unmarked Natalia’s feet who put the visitors back in front with a 1-2 score.

Málaga didn’t give up and accumulated additional opportunities. Kuc stepped on to the pitch in substitution of Patricia, Paula - for Natalia - and Celia for Adriana. The last change came in minute 82 and the striker from the Canary Islands came close to scoring the 1-3 with a shot that didn’t find the Logroño goal.

There was no time for more and at the full-time whistle the scoreboard showed a 1-2 result. The second consecutive victory for Málaga Femenino and the first away win to give the Malagueñas 7 points in Liga Iberdrola.
