The left-back from Uruguay, who was presented in front of the media wearing the number 5 ‘Malaguista’ shirt, arrives at the Club for the remainder of this season and another two. ‘Chory’ was accompanied by Club advisers, Francisco Martín Aguilar, Abdullah Ben Barek and Antonio Benítez during his presentation, as well as sports director Francesc Arnau. “This is the profile we were looking for. A very experienced player who has adapted to the Spanish League. He never had any doubt and always wanted to come to Málaga,” says the Girona-born director.

Arrival at Málaga
“I’ve got a very good impression, it helps to have Tissone on the team as I played with him in Mallorca and he helped me into the group. I also know ‘Gato’ Romero, which helps, and little by little I’ll get to know my teammates. I didn’t have the chance to play as much as I thought at Real. I spoke to Arnau, he explained the future project which I thought was great, and that’s why I’m here. I come with the support and backing of the sports director and coach, and I also hope to win the confidence of my teammates and the fans.”
Eager to get to work
“One always wants to play and participate. This was one of the reasons why I wanted to leave my last team and why I’m here, so I can have the chance to play. The team has a good momentum which will help me to adapt. The first thing I’m going to bring is the right attitude, which is fundamental to hard work; along with everything else, speed, assists and sacrifice so we can achieve our objectives for the rest of the season.”
Fully prepared
“I come prepared, I’ve always worked under the orders of the coaches at Real. I feel ready to get started now, as I’ve never stopped training, which is important to have the chance to play this weekend. I would like to meet the Club’s objectives, as well as my personal goals. I’m here for the remainder of this season and the next two, which gives me room to work hard, so I need to get stuck in so we can win the three points this weekend.”
Positive moment
“I’ve arrived here during a good time for the team, following consecutive victories. The team has a good dynamic which will be positive for me. The group is great, everyone’s happy at work and I’m entering into a very positive momentum. This is what we look for, adapting quickly, and I think the team will also help me to do that.”
Uruguayans at the Club
“What I must defend is the shirt, not the number 5. I’ve arrived at a club which numerous players from Uruguay have been a part of, some of whom I’ve shared a dressing room with. I think each one has left their mark on the team, so I hope I can do the same and it’s positive for Málaga.”
