Castellón came up against CD Málaga on numerous occasions, particularly in the Second Division. The first duel was under the denomination, Sport Club La Plana against CD Malacitano (later CD Málaga), the season during the Malagueño team’s debut in the Second Division (1934/35). The match ended in a ‘Malacitanista’ victory at Baños del Carmen by 5-2. CD Malacitano’s last league away victory under this denomination was at El Sequiol, CD Castellón’s stadium at the time. In addition, CD Málaga’s last Copa del Rey match held in 1991/92 was against CD Castellón, in the 5th round.
With regard to Málaga CF, the number of matches played is obviously less, particularly as MCF has competed in the First Division in 15 out of their last 17 seasons. It was during Málaga CF’s last two seasons in the Second Division when they came up against CD Castellón. In 2006/07, Málaga drew at La Rosaleda (0-0), and won by 0-1 in Castalia, thanks to a goal by Jonatan Valle in the last match of the season. The following year, which ended in the Malaguistas moving up to the First Division, the results were 2-3 in Castellón (goals from Peragón, Baha and Antonio Hidalgo) and 3-1 at Martiricos (goals from Antonio Hidalgo, Cheli and Eliseu).
- The balance of official matches (League and Cup) between CD Castellón and the now extinct CD Málaga is 48, resulting in 18 Malaguista victories, 20 draws and 10 defeats, with a total of 63 goals in favour of the Blue and Whites, and 45 conceded.
