The MCF Academy will be taking part in the Copa de Campeones for the seventh time, the fifth on the run, next week in Ciudad Real.
Málaga CF was proclaimed champions of División de Honor Group IV on 8th April, earning the team a place in the prestigious national Copa de Campeones. This will mark the seventh time in this competition for the Blue and Whites, the fifth in a row.
The MCF Academy already houses two Copas de Campeones on display. The first was won in the 2002/03 season in Cambrils (Tarragona), and the second in 2015/16 in Vera (Almería).
The Malaguista squad has fond memories of their last two participations in this competition. As well as the title won in Almería, Málaga CF secured a superb second place in 2017/18 after a narrow extra time defeat by Real Madrid in the final.
David Cabello’s team will leave the Costa del Sol capital for Ciudad Real on Sunday with their suitcases full of hope and excitement. In their first match (Monday 30th at 19:00) the rival is FC Barcelona. This was the same rival for MCF in the inaugural match of last year’s competition, which ended in a 4-2 win for the Blue and Whites.
