Thirteen years since the first Youth Champions Cup victory

On this day 13 years ago, 11th May 2003, Málaga’s División de Honor team won the Youth Champions Cup in Cambrils (Tarragona), defeating RCD Espanyol de Barcelona by 0-2 in the final.

Champions Cup 2002/03

The champions of the six División de Honor groups took part in the competition.  The six teams were divided into two groups of three, and the tournament was played in a triangular formation.  The first, went through to the final.  Málaga CF was in Group 2, along with UD Salamanca and CD Tenerife.

Goals: 0-1, Perico (15’); 0-2, Ador (82’).

Referee: Felipe S. Crespo García.  Yellow cards were shown to Iray; and Malaguistas: Gámez, Marcos, Alberto Aguilar and Dopico.  Espanyol’s Carlos was sent off with a double yellow card (70’).
