Atlético Malagueño
One step away from renewing the title

Club Atlético Malagueño will be proclaimed Third Division Group IX champions if they secure an away win against Atlético Mancha Real tomorrow.

Three matchdays before the end of the regular season, the Malaguista reserve team affronts the 40th game with the excitement and ambition of obtaining a win, allowing them to revalidate their title from last year.

The Blue and Whites, group leaders, have a 7-point advantage over Almería B, with 9 points still in play. This means that a victory – or a defeat for the Almería reserve team – tomorrow, Sunday at La Juventud, against Mancha Real (12:00), could mathematically grant first place to Malagueño, who has already qualified to the promotion play-offs to Second B.

Dely Valdés’ team is enjoying a superb end to the season on a defensive level, and without counting the defeat in the recent postponed match against Linares (1-0), they have accumulated five victories without conceding a goal between matchdays 35 and 39. In regard to goals, the top trio of scorers are Abeledo (17 goals), Harper (12) and Moreno (10).

The rival, an always competitive Mancha Real, is in 7th place in the standings, 6 points away from the positions granting the right to fight for promotion, occupied by Motril, Jaén and Antequera all with 75 points.

Winning the three points will mean another opportunity to return to the third division of national football, in the case of a win in the first tie. Good luck, Malagueño!
