Málaga CF Femenino lost to Madrid CF Femenino by 1-0 at Matapiñonera on Liga Iberdrola matchday 25.
The locals had control of the ball during the initial stages of play but came up against a strong defence from the Blue and Whites that prevented Madrid from taking the lead. The Malaguistas tried their luck in 13’ with a long shot from Pamela, and narrowly missed opening the scoring with a header from Ode. A corner kick from Leti set up the ball for the South African, who came close to overcoming Paola. However, the Black and Whites were the ones who went in front. It was in the 21st minute with a penalty. Raquel – who was shown the yellow card for the action – fouled Estela and the Madrid player converted from the penalty spot (1-0). Despite the Costa del Sol outfit making several approaches to the rival goal, the girls didn’t manage to break their disadvantage and after 45 minutes the scoreboard remained at 1-0.
In the second half, Málaga attempted to go level with several arrivals to the area. In 61’ Adriana came on in place of Míriam and the remaining substitutions followed for the Blue and Whites. María Ruiz replaced Encarni, Misa substituted Ode and Paula replaced Dominika. The entrance of Ruiz brought more verticality to the team, but they didn’t manage to transform their goal attempts. After 90 minutes the final result was 1-0, with Málaga claiming no points from Madrid Femenino’s ground.
