Atlético Malagueño save their strength for the play-offs (0-0)
The Blue and Whites’ reserve team came away from Guadix with a goalless draw in the final Third Division Group 9 match of the regular League season, ahead of promotion play-offs to Second Division B.
There were numerous changes to Atlético Malagueño’s starting-11 today, to save the usual players and give the others a chance to shine, to ensure the entire team is ready for the play-offs.
Possession was focused in midfield during the first half, without any clear scoring chances for either team, however the Blue and Whites had more presence on the attack in the second half. No sooner had play resumed, Zalea had a shot at goal following a pass from Falu Aranda. Rafa de Vicente, who completed his first 90 minutes after injury, tried his luck in front of the target, but the keeper sent the ball to a corner.
Ernesto Gómez also generated two opportunities to open the scoring, the first being the culmination of an impressive counter-attack, the second following assistance from Rufo, but the ball narrowly missed the target.
The Blue and Whites’ reserve team is now focused on Monday’s draw, taking place at 5:30 p.m., to determine the rival for the first promotion play-off to Second Division B.
