Another point for women’s team at home (1-1)

The Blue and Whites took the lead in 24’ with a header into goal from Marta Cazalla and dominated play until 93’ when Sporting de Huelva went level. With this point and the results from the matchday, the team moves out of the relegation zone.

Málaga CF Femenino drew 1-1 against Sporting de Huelva Femenino on Liga Iberdrola matchday 28 thanks to a header from Marta Cazalla. This is the second goal from the Madrid-born player wearing the Blue and White shirt, allowing the Malaguistas to score a point at home. A point that, taking into account the results from this matchday, allows the girls to leave the relegation zone.

The locals dominated the initial stages of play with precision, and although the visitors also had options in front of Chelsea’s goal, it was the Malaguistas who opened the scoring. It was in minute 24 when a perfect header from Marta Cazalla found the net following a Paula Fernández set piece. The second goal from the Madrid-born player wearing the Málaga CF badge put the home side in front by half-time.

In the second half, Antonio Contreras’ girls took the initiative and, although the match became somewhat rough, in 66’ Patricia Mascaró came close to another goal for Málaga Femenino. From the 73rd minute, Contreras made some changes, bringing on Kuc, Adriana, Míriam and Bassira. It was in the last action of the match, during minute 94 and following a superb save from Chelsea, when Sporting equalised thanks to a lucky, although imprecise, shot from Sandra Bernal (1-1).

Despite just claiming one point this weekend, Málaga CF Femenino moves out of the danger zone due to the rest of the results, and faces the next match against Athletic de Bilbao with 22 points and in 14th place in the standings.
