Lombán: “Our virtue has been to adopt Víctor’s mechanisms quickly”

The defender from Asturias held a press conference at the Ciudad de Málaga: “We’re really looking forward to playing at home and feeling the support of our fans”, he said.

Victory in Alcorcón

“When the good sensations and the result go together, you go home happy. The team was extremely focused for 94 minutes, didn’t relax for one minute during play, which meant we didn’t allow Alcorcón to get into the game at any point. With the penalty they managed to narrow the gap, but in the second half we went out there with the same intensity and we increased the goal difference again”.

New coach

“It’s clear there’s been a change of direction within the team, every coach has their own ideas and own philosophy; our virtue has been to adopt Víctor’s mechanisms quickly. We don’t know what the method is to move up, but what we do know is we have to believe in the person at the helm of the team. And we are a group that does this to perfection”.

Self-critical

“We achieved a good result in Alcorcón and that’s it. Now we need to forget that result and not recreate what we did well. We must be self-critical and, of course, we will have made mistakes which we need to correct. If we settle, or keep focusing on what’s happened, it won’t do us any good. We’ll assume we haven’t done anything and we’re starting from scratch again, and then affront the match against Mallorca with maximum ambition”.

Fans, key

“The fans are fundamental. If we let points escape from La Rosaleda we won’t get to aspire to our objective. We must continue generating that unity we have with the fans, who have supported us from the outset, as they will be decisive in achieving our goal”.

RCD Mallorca

“Mallorca are one of the most difficult teams in the category, regardless of the points they have. They are a solid team and have a great deal of experience in this division. We’re really looking forward to playing at home and feeling the support of our fans, hopefully we’ll all go home happy”.
