Lots of football and lots of champions over Easter

The MCF Academy teams were extremely busy over Easter, taking part in tournaments all over Spain with great success.

7-a-side

  • Gañafote Cup (Champions)

The first of the Easter tournaments led to the first Blue and White champions. The Prebenjamín played an immaculate competition and defeated Club Atlético de Madrid by 3-0 in the final.

  • Mundialito Tarragona (Champions and quarter-finalists)

Málaga CF participated in this tournament with two teams, the Benjamín 2010 and Alevín 2008. The latter were proclaimed tournament champions following a superb performance, beating UD Levante in the final by 3-0. Meanwhile, the Benjamines didn’t make it past the quarter-finals, after a 0-0 draw against Sporting Clube de Portugal and losing 2-3 in the penalty shoot-out.

  • Íscar Cup

The Alevín 2ª Andaluza came third in the group stage after a tie with Valencia, losing to RC Deportivo de La Coruña and beating Finnish rival, Kapylan Pallo.

  • On Sports Cup (Champions and quarter-finalists)

The first champions repeated their feat again in this competition held in Benalmádena, defeating Atlético de Madrid in the final by 4-1. The other two MCF teams ended their participation in the On Sports Cup in the quarter-finals. The Benjamín 2010 drew 5-5 with Getafe CF and lost on penalties, whilst the Alevín 2008 lost 6-0 to FC Barcelona.

  • Danone Nations Cup (Champions)

The Southern Phase of qualification for the Danone Nations Cup was a great success for the Alevín team competing in 2ª Andaluza, defeating their rivals and securing a 4-2 victory in the final against Granada CF. As such, the Malaguista Alevínes will take part in the National Final Phase of the Danone Nations Cup on 1st and 2nd June in Barcelona.

  • Emilio Jurado (Runners-up)

Málaga CF came to this tournament with an Alevín team that ended the tournament as runners-up. Teams such as Cádiz and Almería lost to the Blue and Whites, however in the final, Granada CF won by 3-1.

 

11-a-side

  • Oviedo Cup (Champions and semi-finalists)

There was good news from the other side of the country over Easter. The Infantil team won the tournament in Oviedo after beating Rayo Vallecano in the final. The Cadetes came close to emulating the success of the Infantiles, but didn’t manage to overcome RCD Espanyol in the semi-finals.
