A Herrero: “I'm upset because the team deserved more”
The Málaga goalkeeper spoke after the 2-1 defeat against Racing at El Sardinero. “All teams go through moments when victories don't come. We've had three defeats, and I don't think our performance reflects that,” he said.
The team deserved more
“I'm leaving upset, just like everyone else. The team deserved more, it slipped away because of small details. Two set-piece situations that were avoidable, but that's football. The team showed character and played well. We were close to getting the equaliser. We're aware of our need to get three points and earn results away from home. We're eager to turn things around and for the weekend to come so we can be with our fans and get those three points.”
Details to improve
“They took quite a few corners in that area. They executed them well and found a spot where they hurt us. The opponents study us and know how to attack us. These are details we need to improve. We have to keep going and focus on the next match.”
Self-criticism and support
“All teams go through moments when victories don't come. We've had three defeats, and I don't think our performance reflects that. Sometimes, maybe it’s been the opposite. Self-criticism, controlling our emotions, supporting each other, and going for the next match. After everything we've been through, we know this team is more than capable of turning around a bad run. We’ll keep showing up in every game.”
Highly demanding second round
“We were really hopeful of getting something from here. It was an ideal scenario. We were eager and had prepared very well for the match. The league is very tough. We're in the second half of the season, and everyone realises we know each other better now. All teams study you more, and we've already played a match against each other.”
