Málaga CF incorporates Víctor Sánchez del Amo as first team coach, joining the Entity until the end of the current season.
The new Malaguista coach will be presented to the media tomorrow, Tuesday at 13:00, at the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda stadium. The first training session with Víctor at the helm will take place today, Monday at 18:30 at La Rosaleda stadium.
Career as a player
Víctor Sánchez del Amo (Madrid, 1976) trained with Real Madrid CF, standing out in the youth categories of the Whites’ club and achieving, with the first team, a League title, Spanish Super Cup and a UEFA Champions League. The hard-working, talented right midfielder also played for Real Racing Club, RC Deportivo, Greek outfit, Panathinaikos and Elche CF, highlighting his extensive, successful journey with the side from La Coruña (1999-06), winning a League, Copa del Rey and Two Spanish Super Cups.
He was an international with Spain’s first team on eight occasions, and with the U-21s, won the European Championships with ‘La Rojita’ in 1998.
Coach
Almost a decade ago, Víctor Sánchez began his time on the bench with three experiences as assistant coach. Specifically, with Getafe CF (2010/11), Sevilla FC (2012/13) and in Greece with Olympiacos FC (2013/14).
As manager, always in the elite, he returned to Coruña in the final stage of the 2014/15 campaign. He achieved permanence in the First Division with the Galician side in that and the following season 2015/16, and subsequently signed to Real Betis Balompié during 2016/17 (between matchdays 12 and 36), following a brief spell with Greek side, Olympiakos FC at the start of that year.
Málaga Club de Fútbol wishes Víctor Sánchez del Amo all the luck in the world for the remainder of the 2018/19 season. Welcome, míster!
